Terms of Use

Last updated 29 July 2026

1. About us and these terms

Kitchen Forage is operated by Stow Quill Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15671718), registered office 47 Jerounds, Harlow, Essex, CM19 4HE. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Kitchen Forage at kitchen-forage.com and any related apps (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility and your account

  • You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you should have permission from a parent or guardian, particularly before making any payment.
  • You are responsible for the information you provide, and for keeping your login details secure. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
  • You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date. Do not impersonate anyone or use another person's account without permission.

3. The Service

Kitchen Forage helps households track their food inventory and expiry dates, plan meals, build shopping lists, scan receipts and kitchens, and save and share recipes. Some features use artificial intelligence and third-party services. We offer a free tier and a paid "Pro" subscription with additional features.

4. Subscriptions, payments and cancellation

  • Kitchen Forage Pro costs £7.99 per household per month. It is billed on a recurring monthly basis and renews automatically until cancelled. Payments are handled by Stripe.
  • You can cancel at any time from Settings (via the billing portal). When you cancel, you keep Pro access until the end of the current billing period, and you are not charged again.
  • The free tier includes core features, with some limits (for example, a one-time initial AI kitchen scan and a photo limit per storage area). These limits may change over time.
  • As Pro is a digital service supplied immediately, by subscribing you agree we may begin providing it straight away. Where the law gives you a statutory right to cancel within 14 days, that right may be lost once you have started using the paid features. This does not affect your other statutory rights.
  • Where offered in the app, we may provide a refund of a subscription period if you have not used the paid AI features during that period. Any such refund is processed via Stripe.
  • We may change prices or the features included in each tier. We will give you reasonable notice of material changes, and price changes will not affect the period you have already paid for.

5. Your content and the community library

  • You keep ownership of the content you create (such as recipes, notes and photos). By adding content to the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, process and display it for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.
  • If you choose to publish a recipe to the community library, you additionally grant other users a licence to view, save and cook from it, and you allow us to display it publicly with your chosen display name.
  • You confirm that you have the right to share the content you upload, and that it does not infringe anyone's rights or break any law.
  • We may review, moderate, refuse or remove content that we reasonably consider breaches these Terms or is unlawful, misleading, harmful or spam.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service unlawfully, or to upload content that is illegal, infringing, defamatory, offensive or harmful;
  • upload other people's personal data without a lawful basis to do so;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems, or interfere with their security or operation;
  • scrape, copy or harvest data from the Service except as normally permitted for personal use;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract source code, except to the extent the law allows;
  • abuse, automate or manipulate points, levels, streaks or other gamification features; or
  • misuse the AI features, for example by submitting content designed to produce unlawful or harmful output.

7. AI features and food-safety disclaimer

Kitchen Forage uses AI to recognise items, estimate expiry/use-by dates, and suggest recipes. These features are provided to help you, but they can be wrong or incomplete. In particular:

  • Expiry and use-by estimates are guidance only and are NOT a substitute for the actual date labels on your food or your own judgement. Always check the real product labels and use your senses before eating anything.
  • Item recognition from photos and receipts may misidentify or miss products. Please check and correct what is added.
  • Recipe suggestions and any allergen, dietary or nutritional information may be inaccurate or incomplete. If you have allergies or dietary requirements, always check the actual ingredients yourself.

You are responsible for food safety in your household. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for food that spoils, or for illness or harm, arising from reliance on AI estimates or suggestions rather than on actual product labels and your own judgement.

8. Points and levels

Points, levels, streaks and similar features exist only to reflect and encourage your use of the app. They have no monetary value, are not a currency, and cannot be exchanged, redeemed or transferred. We may adjust, recalculate or reset them, for example to correct errors or abuse.

9. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties including Google (Firebase/Google Cloud), OpenAI, Stripe, and — if you connect it — Google Calendar. Your use of those features is also subject to the relevant third party's terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

10. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, branding and content we provide, is owned by Stow Quill Limited or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use the Service in accordance with these Terms. You may not use our branding without our permission.

11. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service available but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may update, change, suspend or withdraw features, and we may carry out maintenance. We will try to give notice of significant changes where reasonable.

12. Disclaimers and liability

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything that cannot be limited or excluded by law — including your rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Subject to that, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", and we exclude all warranties not expressly set out in these Terms. We are not liable for losses that are not reasonably foreseeable, for business losses, or for loss of data, profit or goodwill. Where we are liable to you, our total liability arising from or in connection with the Service in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in that period, or £100.

13. Indemnity

You agree to reimburse us for reasonable losses, damages and costs we suffer arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service, or from content you upload that infringes someone's rights or breaks the law. This does not apply to the extent the loss is caused by us.

14. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or end your access if you materially or repeatedly breach these Terms, or where we are required to by law. On termination, the licences you granted for content that you have shared publicly (such as community recipes already in use by others) may continue to the extent needed for the community feature to function.

15. Governing law

These Terms and any dispute relating to them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you may also be entitled to bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the UK in which you live, and to rely on mandatory consumer protections of that jurisdiction.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
